Advent tradition: Our advent wreath is hung from the ceiling, over our kitchen table, using purple ribbon. It is hard to miss and thus a great daily reminder of what this season is about. This year we are going to pray the St Andrew Novena prayer from this feast day until Christmas eve.

I think I missed something: What is our favorite Advent or Christmas tradition? We are adding a few things this Advent, in addition to the Advent Wreath and Advent Calendar, we are writing a letter to the Christ Child to tell Him what we will work on during Advent. Our favorite tradition though, is probably our procession with Baby Jesus to the crib on Christmas morning!

Our favorite Advent tradition is our Advent calendar, and Jesse Tree. I sort of combine them.
My biggest challenge year to year is picking a few activities to focus on and not trying to do every great idea I see.

What is your favorite family Advent/Christmas tradition?
Our favorite tradition is building an Advent wreath as a family for our table and lighting the appropriate candle(s) at each meal. It is a great way to emphasize the meaning of Advent with our children and build the true anticipation of the birth of our Lord.

Our favorite Advent Tradition: On Dec. 12, we make a special honey cake. Then, on the morning of the 13th, our oldest daughter, Lucy (yes, that's really her name!), dresses in white and puts a wreath of candles on her head. We take the cake and some hot cocoa and coffee to her grandparents' house, and serve them the treats for breakfast.

There are so many traditions that we love! My daughter loves dressing up as St. Lucia on December 13 (she has a electric candle crown) and serving us lussekatters or other scandinavian treats. We love reading many wonderful holiday books, including the American Girl historical books -- Kirsten's holiday one is a favorite, because I'm from Minnesota! We use an advent spiral to mark off the days and a Jesse tree. Thank you for offering this wonderful giveaway.

I don't really have a favorite activity. We do so much and I like it all (O Antiphons, St. Nicholas Day, St. Lucy's Day, etc.).

Our favourite Advent traditions are the Advent Wreath, a homemade Advent calendar or Jesse Tree, our traditional St Nicholas feast day and St Lucy feast of light night and Befana.
Thank you for offering this giveaway! God bless.

My youngest daughter saw the St. Lucy doll costume and exclaimed, "Oh Mommy that looks beautiful! I like that dress."

My favorite Advent tradition is preparing Baby Jesus' manger for Him. The children places pieces of straw (yarn) in the manger for each good deed that they do. When we arrive home from Midnight Mass, they find Jesus in the manger and we all sing, "Happy Birthday" to Him.

This year, we will be adding your Christkindl tradition to our traditions.

May God bless you and your family for all that you share.

The Advent wreath, calendar, and Advent stories are traditions enjoyed in my family. Each begins by opening one window on the calendar followed by a read-aloud Advent story. The day ends at dinner time when a candle on the Advent wreath is lit.

Our favorite Advent tradition is reading through a daily book of Advent meditations that includes placing a static cling vinyl figure (like the old Playforms sets!) on a nativity scene. This year, we are changing up our traditional Advent wreath and using a 'circle of light' wreath (from Ann Voskamp's family tradition) and having Mary and Joseph travel the circle, leaving our Advent candle on each 7th day to mark the traditional spot. Thanks for the opportunity to win a fun prize! Our daughter will appreciate this for her American Girl doll! God Bless!

Our favorite part of Advent are the December feast days--St. Nicholas, St. Lucy, Our Lady of Guadalupe...
This is our first year doing a Jesse Tree.

One of the things we have done for advent is cut up a whole bunch of yarn, then when a child has done something extra special or been particularly "Christlike" in their behavior, they are allowed to place yarn in baby Jesus' manger.
