Adam and Eve
Once more the great Creator spoke. He said “Let Us make MAN!” God made a beautiful body from the earth. He breathed a SOUL into this body, and Adam was made! Adam was the first man on earth. He adored God who made him.
God’s Garden on Earth
When God made Adam and Eve, He wanted them to live in the earthly Paradise first, and afterwards to be happy with Him in heaven. Had they remained good and obedient, they and all the people that came after them, would never have had to die. Then there would have been no pain or sorrow in this world. But God wanted our first parents to prove their love for Him by their obedience to His law. In the following stories we shall see what God did to test the love and obedience of Adam and Eve and how they stood the trial.
When God created Adam, He put him into a beautiful garden called Paradise. There He brought before Adam all the animals He has created. Adam gave names to all the beasts, and all the birds of the air, and all the cattle of the field. But in spite of the lovely garden and all the animals, Adam was lonely, because there was no one there like himself. Therefore God said: “It is not good for man to be alone: let Us make him a helper like unto himself.” Then He sent a deep sleep over Adam, and when he was fast asleep, God took a rib from his side and formed the body of a woman. When Adam saw the woman whom God had made for him, he was very happy. He said: “This now is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called woman because she was taken out of man.” This woman was named Eve, which means “mother of all the living.”
